- Kirkland Signature Krill Oil 500 mg • Helps support a healthy heart† • Superior absorption‡ • One small softgel per day • No fishy odor or aftertaste • 100% Antarctic krill oil Sustainably sourced from Antarctic waters What is Krill Oil? Antarctic krill are tiny shrimp-like creatures that thrive in the ocean’s pristine and extreme conditions. Nutrition-wise, krill oil is a natural source of omega-3 fatty acids (EPA and DHA) and naturally occurring astaxanthin. The typical North American diet is deficient in omega-3 fatty acids, so supplements provide the simplest, most consistent source of these essential fatty acids.† Krill oil is unique because it contains phospholipid-bound omega-3s, making it easier to absorb and more bioavailable than triglyceride-bound omega-3s found in fish oil.1†‡ Phospholipids are a class of fats that are the essential building blocks of all cell membranes, and they have a simpler digestive process than other forms of fatty acids. Because of their effective absorption, you only need one small softgel per day to get the same benefits as the regular fish oil dosage.† Krill oil is recognized for its deep red-orange pigment from the naturally occurring carotenoid called astaxanthin. Superior absorption‡ The omega-3s in krill oil are bound to phospholipids, making them much more easily absorbed into the body.† (1) The omega-3s in fish oil are bound to triglycerides, which need to be broken down and digested in the small intestine. Naturally occurring astaxanthin Krill oil contains astaxanthin, a naturally occurring carotenoid that helps protect against oxidative damage from free radicals.† One pill per day Because of its superior absorption compared to fish oil‡, the suggested dose for Kirkland Signature Krill Oil is only one softgel daily, preferably with a meal. No fishy odor or aftertaste Krill oil does not have the fishy odor or aftertaste that is common in some fish oil supplements. Small, easy-to-swallow softgels Compared to omega-3 from fish oil softgels, Kirkland Signature Krill Oil softgels are smaller and easier to swallow. Pure Antarctic Krill Kirkland Signature Krill Oil is made with 100% pure Antarctic krill oil, sustainably sourced from
- Antarctic waters. Supports a healthy heart† The most important forms of omega-3 fatty acids for maintaining and supporting a healthy heart are eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid
- (DHA).† EPA and DHA have been studied extensively for their roles in maintaining healthy cholesterol, triglyceride, and blood pressure levels already within a normal range.†2,3 Skin and healthy aging Krill oil contains astaxanthin, a naturally occurring carotenoid that is both water- and lipidsoluble, offering better overall protection against oxidative damage from free radicals.† Protection from free radicals can benefit every cell in the body, including those in the eyes, brain, heart, and kidneys.† In addition, the antioxidant activity of astaxanthin may play a protective role in keeping skin healthy and supporting youthful aging.† Kirkland Signature Krill Oil contains 150 mcg of naturally occurring astaxanthin per serving
- . Brain health Krill oil may help your brain stay sharp.† One of the benefits of the omega-3s in phospholipid form is that they may help support normal brain functions like memory and learning.†4 Each softgel contains 200 mg of phospholipids per serving. Muscle and joint health To keep joints functioning well, regular movement such as aerobic and strengthening exercises is a common recommendation, along with maintaining a healthy weight. Using dietary supplements like krill oil may help with healthy joint support.†5 Kirkland Signature Krill Oil is harvested sustainably under the guidelines of the Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources (CCAMLR). Kirkland Signature Krill Oil is USP tested and verified, backed by research, and includes the support of astaxanthin, making it superior to fish oil.‡ The precise krill-catching methodology used to manufacture Kirkland Signature Krill Oil uses an acoustic search technology that ensures only krill swarms of a suitable size are harvested. The processing method does not require large quantities of krill and is not dependent on a continuous pumping system to bring the krill on board. In addition, bottom trawling is not used in the harvesting for Kirkland Signature Krill Oil, as zero bycatch is allowed. This helps prevent any harm to the seabed and preserves the area for natural predators. Side effects are generally mild, if present, and may include intestinal gas, heartburn, or diarrhea, though
- at significantly lower rates than with fish oil.6 Can krill oil support normal cholesterol? Krill oil may help maintain LDL cholesterol and triglycerides already within the normal range.†2 What is the difference between krill oil and cod liver oil? Krill are small crustaceans, and cod are a type of fish. Both have omega-3 fatty acids, including DHA and
- EPA. In addition to omega-3s, krill has astaxanthin, while cod liver oil has vitamins A and D. Krill oil
- omega-3s are in a phospholipid form, which may be more easily absorbed than cod liver oil omega-3s as
- they are in triglyceride form.† What is astaxanthin? Astaxanthin is a red carotenoid pigment related to vitamin A. It helps with neutralizing free radicals
- throughout the body.† Can you take krill oil and fish oil together? There is nothing wrong with taking both together, though this depends on an individual’s needs. Some
- may prefer the support of the naturally occurring astaxanthin found in krill oil.† Is this product tested for mercury and other contaminants? Yes, it is. 1. Köhler A, Sarkkinen E, Tapola N, et al.
